Trekking in this Himalayan kingdom is one of the most wonderful experiences a visitor can have. It is quite different from other parts of the Himalayas. The country ranges from the dense forest of subtropical jungles to the alpine shrubs, endowed with a wide spectrum of Himalayan flora and fauna. The land is thinly populated with scattered settlements. A person may walk for several days before sighting a village. Trekking in Bhutan is a fairly recent development, although the Himalayas have always held a long-standing attraction to the Western world for trekking and mountaineering. The beautiful landscape, unique architecture, snowcapped peaks, colorful Dzongs, Lamaist Buddhist traditions and friendly people leave an everlasting impression on the visitor.
You can enjoy your trek as you will be accompanied by an expert guide along with 4-5 people (cooks & horsemen). On your trek, you will be provided: a two-person sleeping tent, a toilet tent, a dining tent, a kitchen tent, sleeping beds, cooking staff, pack animals (horses) for carrying luggage.
Trekking in Bhutan offers you a diverse variety of Bhutanese landscapes and culture and is without doubt one of the most beautiful and unspoiled trekking areas in the entire Himalayas, from picturesque farmland and forests to alpine pastureland and high passes. Spectacular campsites, beneath some of Bhutan’s most impressive peaks, of which the most notable are Chomolhari and Jichu Drake, The trek begins at Drugyel Dzong passing through interesting villages, scattered hamlets and farmland. Vegetation zones differ from richly forested valleys to high alpine pastureland where Yak herders graze their animals. You will also encounter rare species like Takin (The National animal of Bhutan) the blue sheep, and with any luck, possibly even the snow leopard! The unique culture of the friendly Layap people is fascinating to experience and gives one a sense of being in a truly remote corner of our world.
